Notes

The trains SCHEDULED to call at Edmonton station in the next seven days, for the map's VIA marker (pipeline/sources/via.py, build rail 'via'). Replaced the live-position JSON on 2026-10-08, which VIA's site terms do not permit (via_rail_live_train_positions_tsimobile).

LICENCE LINKED 2026-10-12 (owner: a licence link wherever possible): VIA's developer page, cited: 'By downloading our GTFS data, you agree to be bound to the Open Government Licence – Canada version 2.' MAP LAYER ONLY, never brief content. Stop times are in agency.txt's agency_timezone (America/Toronto), NOT the station's zone, as the GTFS spec requires: train 2 leaves Vancouver at '18:00:00', VIA's 15:00 Pacific departure, and calls at Edmonton at '44:50:00' = 18:50 Edmonton. A service day is the day a trip leaves its ORIGIN (train 1 leaves Toronto Wednesday, calls at Edmonton Friday at '70:50:00'). Edmonton is stop_code EDMO (stop_id 449 in the 2026-08-17 feed); only trips 111 (VIA 1, to Vancouver, Wed/Sun) and 112 (VIA 2, to Toronto, Mon/Fri) call there. route_long_name is 'Vancouver - Toronto'; the feed never names 'The Canadian'. feed_info.feed_end_date bounds what it speaks for; past it the rail fails rather than reads empty. shapes.txt is 3 MB unpacked and not read. data/cache is not restored on the runner, so no conditional GET.
